When it was time to start writing a new historical romance series, there was only one thing I had in mind: governesses. Why? Because there is something about governesses in historical romance that you just don’t get in ‘normal’ Regency romances. Balls, card parties, walks in St. James’ Park – they are all great. I love them! But when you have a series about … Read More Why write romances about governesses?
Hundreds of you have loved my Never the Bride series: from Always the Bridesmaid to Always the Mistress – and when the series ended in April 2021, so many of you were upset.
I’m sorry! Sometimes a series comes to an end, and though I will probably revisit the characters that we all loved, there’s a new chapter in my author life opening.
A new series: The Governess Bureau!

I cannot be the only one who is excitedly awaiting Bridgerton Season 2 – BUT I am probably one of the few people on the planet who has never read Julia Quinn’s books.
Don’t hate me! I have avoided her books because I never wanted to be so inspired by her work that I would accidentally borrow bits from her books. You have no idea how difficult it is, as an author, to prevent yourself from having a brilliant idea, working it into your plot…and then realising a month later that it was actually something you read seven years ago.

I’m feeling quite emotional as I type this…
Always the Second Choice is the last novel in my popular Never the Bride series.
It’s been such a rollercoaster. This twelve novel series originally started as a six book series with my new publishers, Dragonblade, but my amazing readers (that’s you!) loved these characters and my writing style so much that I just kept going.
It was hard to see how I would ever stop!
Many of you still read and love my Ravishing Regencies series, and there hasn’t been a new book in that series for a little while – but all of that is changing!
Christmas with a Czar was previously published in the ‘Have a Merry Little Secret’ boxset, but if you’ve never read it, then it’s available to pre-order for 0.99 right now!
A man who claims to be a prince and a woman forced to play along – but the real secret must be revealed before Christmas Day…
If you are one of the many readers who was worried about Miss Rebecca Darby not receiving her happily ever after in Always the Chaperone? You are not alone! In fact, I started receiving so many requests from readers that when the opportunity to write a story in the Lyon’s Den world came up, I knew exactly whose story I had to tell.
You know how sometimes, there’s a character that you just can’t let go? You think she’s going to be a secondary character, just flitting in and out in the background, and then she grabs you and shakes you and hisses that you better give her a story or she’ll riot?

I know, I know, I am so late to the party! But I was finishing off a Regency series at the time and I didn’t want to a) get distracted and b) I didn’t want to accidentally steal any great lines from the TV show!
Okay, real talk: I think this is my favourite cover of my series so far! It’s so exciting to introduce you to Mrs. Howard – scandalously widowed, scandalously pregnant…
